Devastation is antecedent to rebirth. Japan’s most cherished flower pushes out its blossoms even as the hardest-hit survivors struggle to understand what has happened in the midst and aftermath of the recent tsunami. This Oscar®-nominated short film by 2011 Academy Award nominee Lucy Walker (Waste Land)—both stark and vivid in its visual poetry—offers an unforgettable contemplation on the ephemeral truths of life and nature. Music by Moby.
