Dead Dad

You can choose almost anything but your family, and this film sets out to prove it. Three estranged siblings—adopted, conservative Alex; unemployed drummer Russ; and their attractive younger sister “Chainsaw”—reunite for their Dad’s funeral and end up leaving with way more than they bargained for: his remains. Though stubborn and proud, they do agree on one thing: nobody wants to keep the ashes. With no guidance and piles of resentment, the siblings must band together to find the perfect final resting place for their father, and in the process, the man responsible for splitting them apart ultimately brings them closer together. This heartfelt dramatic comedy frames the inherent estrangement that often exists among family members, but unexpected joy is found in the authentic, ridiculous, yet life-affirming moments that only happen in deserted dinosaur mini-golf parks, the occasions only possible with family. The highly accomplished feature debut of FSU graduate Ken Adachi (Picture Day, FFF 2010), DEAD DAD will leave you grateful for the fragile yet comforting ties that bind us to our families.

Director Bio:
Ken J. Adachi (Dead Dad) developed an urge to complete a feature length film while working primarily in short formats. New to Los Angeles with limited funds, he and his collaborators embraced a grassroots approach and worked tirelessly to make it happen. The result is Dead Dad, Adachi’s feature film debut.
