A Tribute to Blake Edwards and 50th Anniversary Showcase

The names Audrey Hepburn and Holly Golightly have become synonymous since this dazzling romantic comedy was translated to screen from Truman Capote’s best-selling novella. Holly is a deliciously eccentric playgirl, mastering New York City in what would become every woman’s “little black dress.” She snags dollars from her dates, earns cash by “reporting the weather” to a mafia friend in Sing-Sing, and uses her charm to get by on late rent payments while seeking just the right marriage material millionaire. George Peppard plays next-door neighbor Paul Varjak, a writer “sponsored” by a wealthy Patricia Neal. Guessing who’s the right man for Holly is easy. See just how that romance blossoms while falling in love with Henry Mancini’s Oscar-winning score and the Oscar-winning Mancini-Johnny Mercer song, “Moon River.”
Celebrating the 50th anniversary of this charming comedy classic, Paramount Pictures has graciously provided the Festival with a gorgeous, recently-struck 35mm print—the perfect tribute to Blake Edwards’s (Victor Victoria, The Pink Panther film series) recent passing.
