Written and produced by Film Threat’s Chris Gore in the tradition of relentless parodies such as Airplane and Scary Movie, MY BIG FAT INDEPENDENT MOVIE delivers jabs to seemingly every indie film that has enjoyed both underground and mainstream success. The outrageous spoof seeks and destroys clichés of the genre: botched robberies, f-bomb–dropping hit men, codependent swingin’ hepcats, parallel subplots, lesbian sex scenes, and occasional subtitled dialogue. None of the indie film darlings are safe - Swingers, Pulp Fiction, Memento, Run Lola Run, Reservoir Dogs, The Good Girl, and Amelie all receive nods as the hilarious (and sometimes sick!) story follows a Vegas-bound robbery mission that encounters a slew of recognizable characters. Watch for Bob Odenkirk, Clint Howard, Paget Brewster, the Toxic Avenger (!), and the inimitable vocal stylings of Jason Mewes (of Jay and Silent Bob fame). Sometimes the truth hurts, even if it’s from laughing.
