DIRECTED BY TIM KIRKMAN
EAST COAST PREMIERE
Inspired by a true story, this compelling drama masterfully interweaves three seemingly disparate but inexorably connected stories, each set on a different Mother’s Day weekend in North Carolina. LOGGERHEADS tells the tales of a lonely woman (Bonnie Hunt) who gave her son up for adoption years ago but is suddenly driven to find him, of an HIV-positive gay man (Kip Pardue) who journeys to a small coastal town to save endangered turtles, and of the sheltered wife (Tess Harper) of a homophobic minister (Chris Sarandon) who has grown disenchanted with her repressive life and yearns for the adopted son they disowned years before. All are filled with guilt and emptiness, crave something they cannot attain, and face life-altering challenges. Writer/director Tim Kirkman probes with remarkable insight the demands imposed by our need for family and intimacy and the consequences we suffer for our choices. This superbly acted, time-jumping mosaic subtly intertwines personal dilemmas into a searing emotional triptych of raw, heart-wrenching power.
